82639-lake-verea-modern-barragn
Lake Verea: Modern Barragán
Modern Barragán is a personal book that chronicles the diverse encounters of contemporary Mexican artists Lake Verea with the work of Luis Barragán since 2006. This book features photographic representations of the architect's work and private spaces as a tribute, a hymn of admiration. While staying in his private home, the photographers allowed themselves to be enchanted, approaching the elements with an anti-critical attitude. They compared their own bodies to his, sat on his chairs, opened his cupboards, listened to the silence, and kissed in the enchanted garden. The house was portrayed by day, moon, and street light, during thunderstorms, with flash photography, and by rubbing the walls and floors with aluminum sheets to reveal its history through its textures.

Francisca Rivero-Lake Cortina (b. 1973) and Carla Verea Hernández (b. 1978) have been collaborating as photographers since 2005 and live in Mexico City. With their extraordinary and investigative gaze, they mark an important position in contemporary photography. In Europe, they became known with their exhibition Paparazza Moderna at the Vitra Design Museum in 2019.
