To celebrate its 125th anniversary, the Deutsche Bank is exhibiting a representative cross-section of its art collection for the first time. Over two hundred drawings, watercolors, gouaches, and collages created from 1903 to 1994 will be shown under the title On Paper / Twentieth-Century Art from the Deutsche Bank. The selection ranges from Beckmann, Kandinsky, Klee, and Marc to Beuys, Kiefer, Polke, and Richter, including the new generation with Tobias Rehberger and Jörg Herold. Since 1980 the Deutsche Bank has continually expanded its holdings in classic modern German artists by acquiring exemplary works, while at the same time stressing its commitment to the purchase of works by young artists for the decoration of its branch offices. On the basis of these concepts a unique collection has been created, which is now being made accessible to a wider public through exhibition and publication. All exhibited works are reproduced in color and discussed in the commentaries of this extensive volume (over 300 pages).
