She Was an Architect is a new series that focuses on forgotten and overlooked female architects of the 20th century. It highlights the diverse ways in which women made an impact in architecture despite structural barriers: They taught, published, collaborated, worked in the field, and explored possibilities for architectural restoration and preservation. Each portrait is presented using accessible texts and a variety of visual material. These short monographs also show us how we can learn from female practices for the future and for a more sustainable approach to the architectural profession.—A valuable contribution for anyone interested in building culture, architectural theory, and sustainable construction.
