The extensive collection of the Stiftung Hans Arp and Sophie Taeuber-Arp will be moving in September 1998 to the new museum building designed by Richard Meier on the hill overlooking the Rhine in Rolandseck. Before the works of these two important artists move into the new rooms above the Rhine panorama, an international exhibition tour will take place with stops at prominent venues in Europe, Asia and America. Approximately 150 selected works from all the creative periods and in a variety of techniques give a vigorous impression of the diversity, inventiveness and quality of the work of these two artists. In 1953, Michel Seuphor wrote, "It is wonderful to see how the sculptor's work and those of the painter mutually complement and enrich each other. To the resonant sound of Arp's forms, Sophie Taeuber-Arp adds a colourful, but simple, disciplined accompaniment. Texts of reputable experts shed light on the life and the art of these exceptional artist personalities.
