The visual image of a world exhibition is largely characterized by the quality of its architecture. The Hanover EXPO 2000 stunned visitors with an especially wide range of attractions: Exhibition halls awash in light were just as much a part of it as future- oriented bridge constructions, invitingly designed commons or modern traffic buildings. The pavilions of the individual nations were among the fair´s finest: a Buddhist temple for the Kingdom Bhutan, a Japanese Pavilion, which was made entirely out of paper, a desert fort for the United Emirates, or stacked landscapes for the Netherlands - never before were there so many architectural attractions to be seen in such close proximity.
