The third volume of the yearly series published by the federal agency Bundesamt für Bauwesen und Raumordung, presents federally financed buildings and projects-in-progress in the areas of architecture, art and historic monument preservation, accompanied by a number of research contributions.ì At the moment, the development of Berlin´s historic centre is the most demanding and also most controversial federal building project. Accordingly, one focus of the yearbook is the governmental buildings in the Federal Republic´s new political centre, such as the new Foreign Ministry building or the Ministry for Traffic, Building and Housing structure with an art project by Rebecca Horn. The book also documents the competition for the extension of the Berlin Federal Library Unter den Linden. Additionally, the volume features - with numerous photographs and plans - various federal buildings abroad such as the embassy at the Palais Beauharnais in Paris or the project for the office of the German embassy in Kiev.
