Cosima von Bonin, born in 1962 in Kenya and currently living in Cologne, is "the art scene's hot favorite" (Die Zeit). Since the beginning of the nineties, she has been represented in large group exhibitions and has also had important solo exhibitions in renowned institutions. The versatility of her artistic practice is astonishing: She does not limit herself to one medium but utilises photography, sculpture, installation, performance and film alike. She creates fabric works from a diversity of textiles and consciously employs techniques such as sewing and embroidering that are traditionally considered feminine. She often uses objets trouvés that are especially interesting to her, forging them into new poetic statements. Cosima von Bonin works with artist friends, organizes large group projects bringing together artists from different areas, produces videos, manages festivals and also DJs. The book, conceived by the artist, provides insights into Cosima von Bonin's multifaceted work of late. Exhibition Schedule: Neue Galerie Graz October 26 - December 1, 2002
