Glenn Kaino (*1972 in Los Angeles) employs many different forms of expression: this multitalented artist of Japanese ancestry has shown his kinetic sculptures and large-scale installations at the Whitney Biennial, the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego, Artpace San Antonio, and The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. He is one of the cofounders of the Deep River Gallery in Los Angeles, an artist-run space, and was also the Chief Creative Officer at Napster. At Uber.com, he created an innovative Internet platform for self-expression, and he has also developed a kind of time machine for the masses in the form of a television commercial for the Superbowl. Kaino’s surprising works comment on pop culture and sociopolitical issues. He draws parallels between modular, non-hierarchical data organization and the paradigm shift caused by deconstruction and postmodernity in art. Kaino describes his multimedia method as “object-oriented.” This monograph focuses on projects he has created over the past ten years. Exhibition schedule: The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh, May 3–August 31, 2008
